M’Hamid El Ghizlane is the last town before the true Sahara, and the base for our original camel trekking routes. This is where Sahara Marokko’s desert camp is located, and where most of our multi-day treks u2014 from the classic Nomads Trail to our longer Call of the Desert route u2014 begin and end.

Trips from M’Hamid range from a fast overnight excursion to Erg Chegaga, right through to 6-day camel treks that move camp almost every night, guided throughout by local nomadic families. It’s also home to our desert yoga retreat, which pairs gentle trekking with days of stillness at a private camp.
