Desert Tours From Agadir
Agadir is Morocco’s main Atlantic coast resort city, and the starting point for travellers who want to combine a beach stay with a genuine Sahara excursion. From here, private vehicles head inland through the Anti-Atlas mountains u2014 via Taroudant, Tafraout’s painted rocks, and the oasis town of Tata u2014 toward Erg Chegaga, Morocco’s largest and most remote dune field.
Because the route runs through the Anti-Atlas rather than the High Atlas, it passes through towns and landscapes most Marrakech-based tours never reach: prehistoric rock engravings near Akka, Berber villages built into granite hillsides, and traditional carpet-weaving communities. Tours from Agadir range from 4 to 6 days, always finishing with two nights of desert camping, camel riding and sandboarding at Erg Chegaga.
