Desert Tours From Ouarzazate

Nicknamed the ‘Hollywood of Africa’ for its film studios, Ouarzazate is the fastest launch point for reaching the desert without first crossing the High Atlas from Marrakech. It sits at the head of the Draa Valley, making it a natural base for tours heading south toward Zagora, M’Hamid and Erg Chegaga, or east through the Dades Valley toward Merzouga.

Because the High Atlas crossing is already behind you, tours from Ouarzazate are typically a day shorter than the equivalent trip from Marrakech. We run routes to both of Morocco’s major dune systems from here: Erg Chegaga via the Draa Valley and Zagora, and Erg Chebbi near Merzouga via the Dades Valley and Todra Gorge.
