Our most complete Agadir desert trip to the Erg Chegaga dunes takes the full scenic route at a relaxed pace: Taroudant’s souks, Tafraout’s painted rocks, Anti-Atlas villages, and the oasis town of Tata, before two full nights among Morocco’s largest dunes.

It’s built for travellers who’d rather slow down and see more of southern Morocco’s landscape than rush straight to the desert u2014 with the same camel ride, sandboarding and desert camp as our shorter Agadir routes.

Day 1 :

Agadir to Taroudant

A short first day to Taroudant, often nicknamed the 'Grandmother of Marrakech' for its red ramparts and lively souks.

The afternoon is free to explore Taroudant's medina, tanneries and silver jewellery workshops.

Day 2 :

Taroudant to Tafraout

Taroudant to Anti-Atlas to Tafraout

The road climbs into the Anti-Atlas toward Tafraout, passing through argan groves and almond orchards.

On arrival, there's time to walk among Tafraout's famous painted rocks, set into a landscape of pink granite boulders.

Day 3 :

Tafraout to Tata

Tafraout to Anti-Atlas villages to Tata

The route continues through traditional Anti-Atlas villages built into the hillside before descending toward the pre-Saharan oasis town of Tata.

Overnight in Tata, the last major stop before the true desert.

Day 4 :

Tata to Erg Chegaga

Tata to Akka rock engravings to Foum Zguid to Erg Chegaga

A stop near Akka reveals prehistoric rock engravings before the road reaches Foum Zguid, the gateway to Erg Chegaga.

By late afternoon, a 4x4 track leads into the dunes, with a camel ride and the first night camping under canvas or open sky.

Day 5 :

Erg Chegaga

Full day and second night at Erg Chegaga

A full day to explore the dunes at your own pace — climbing for panoramic views, sandboarding, and resting through the midday heat.

A second desert night follows, with dinner and music around the fire.

Day 6 :

Return to Agadir

Erg Chegaga to Foum Zguid to Tata to Agadir

A final sunrise over Erg Chegaga precedes the long drive back through Foum Zguid and Tata.

The route returns over the Anti-Atlas to Agadir, arriving in the evening and closing out the tour.
